Discover the Desert

Duration:  March 1st - April 1st, Realm: Neo-Maera (but anyone can participate)

Just when you thought you know your ways around Neo-Maera, you discover a whole new location: Sandfall, the giant desert. Home to many creatures that can stand the heat and sand, it is not a particularly popular travel location - but has that ever stopped you?

On your way through sandfall, you are sure to encounter the Saurians! Saurians are a humanoid, dinosaur inspired species that exclusively live on the land, and have been known to show some serpents who's boss as well. They tend live in tight knit tribes with quite the rivalry between each of them, but if you bring them shiny stones, they may take to you kindly...

Fossil Digging

As per usual, you will be able to earn different items relating to these species during this event: the customary MYOs and traits! This time, the MYOs and traits can be bought in exchange for shiny stones at the Desert Goods shop. Shiny stones can be earned via event prompts! As usual, Saurians to use  will be uploaded in the course of the day. The MYOs will also be available for coin starting april, as will the rare tail trait!

Of course, there is also a new award as well as new theme + background for the true desert experience! The awards is limited to this event, but the background and theme will stay available for coins!

Flower Shower

Nature slowly wakes up to a new year, spring is greeting all the realms! This is the time for relaxing walks, gardening, and enjoying the rays of the spring sun.

Prompts

Earn the new seasonal currency, sugar flowers, by completing the newly released Seasonal Spring prompts! You may also want to visit the new daily, The Lotus Pond, for free sugar flowers each day during spring.

Seasonal Traits

This season comes with a whopping 4 new traits that work on any species: Floral , Earthen, Bioluminiscent and Sparkling! Pay a visit to the Greenhouse, Fire & Steelworks, Joyous Toys or Pearl's Precious to exchange your sugar flowers for a new look!

Companions

Flowers are blooming, and so are some companions! Check out these new little critters (and plant variant) on the companion index! Time to stock up on Green Apples.

Backgrounds

Fuchsia has prepared some new travel locations to you ! Visit Tranquil Travels Agency  and check out some of the seasonal backgrounds you can buy only during spring!

Show your Affection

Affection is a currency that can be held by characters. You can earn it by collecting it daily or completing the In Love prompt! Then, you can add it to your character of choice by going to their profile -> bank. Beware, however, that once you add affection to a character, you cannot remove it!

• For each affection a character has, the chances of a trait being inherited rise by 1%. This goes for all traits between both parents! For example, character 1 has 5 affection and character two has 2 affection. This raises the chance for any trait to be passed on by 7%! That means uncommon traits inherit at 47%, rare traits at 17% and so on.
• Once the MYO for a pairing is created, the affection of each character is reset to 0! Be careful not to overcap your chances, as your character loses affection after each pairing.
• Affection is added on top of boost items, so if you take the previous example while using boost items, it goes like so: uncommon traits inherit at 77%, rare traits at 37% and so on.

A Valentine's Gift

Since it's valentines day and some of you may already have used a pairing item without the chance to grind affection, we decided to give you a little extra gift today! You will be able to collect this gift until the end of February.

Realms Away offers many seasonal traits that work on all species, and some smaller ones that are specific to some. However, for future content, we would like to have at least one Extraordinary trait that is species specific for each of them! With how many species there are, and the restrictions for species specific traits, coming up with good traits is not always easy...which is why we'd like to tap into your creativity to help us out!

How to Enter

• Pick one (or more) species you like, and design an extraordinary trait for them, following the guidelines below!
• The design can be sketchy, uncolored, it doesn't matter as long as it gets your idea across!
• Upload your design to sta.sh or another web host that is not public (so we don't spoil unwilling folks, but you are free to share ideas in the spoiler channel on discord!)
• Submit your idea(s) to the Tantalizing Traits Prompt in order to earn a guaranteed reward!
• Be aware that the design will be used either as is or with some changes on this site if you win. By joining, you declare that you are okay with this usage!
• Should you win, you will be credited for the creation of the trait on the trait's info, like so.
• Done!

Trait Design Guidelines

• Unlike seasonal traits, these traits are specific to one species. As such, they should not be something that can generically fit on any species, but should use a feature of the chosen species and add a twist to it!
• This can mean adding new/multiple limbs, or changing the shape of one such thing 
• Ideally, they do not make one species look too much like another (e.g. adding bat wings to faun, making them look like Baphomets)
• Ideally, they do not resemble a transformation (e.g. making a centaur form for dragons)
• When designing, make sure your idea isn't conflicting with any existing trait!
• You can also look at the existing species specific traits to get an idea on how they work.
• A great example is the Scalloped Ears lopilu trait, that while not yet released was designed by xXAuraTaurusXx!
• Species least in need of specific traits: Lopilu, Gleamstic, Beastling (as they already have extraordinary traits)
• Species most in need of specific traits: Dragons, Equos, Faun, Serpent
• No traits for humans are needed, they are just humans.

Prizes

There is going to be no guaranteed winner due to the nature of this contest, but there may also be multiple winners! It all depends on the entries and how well they fit into Realms Away. To make up for this, any entry gets guaranteed rewards!

Every valid entry to the contest, regardless of whether it wins or not, can complete the Tantalizing Traits Prompt to earn 50 and a Seasonal Surprise Gift! This gift grants you a random seasonal trait out of those that are currently released.

If your idea is a winner, you will also get the trait item for free once it is released on site! Please bear in mind that this will likely take a while though.

A small note on traits

As some of you may have noticed, some traits have moved from being an event trait to being a seasonal trait - most of them were not released yet, but most notable is the Zombified trait. It has been turned into a seasonal autumn trait! This means the rarity was adjusted to rare, as all seasonal traits are, and the pricing of the cultivation item went down to match the others as well. For the sake of consistency, we felt this change was necessary, and also allows you easier access to this well-liked trait in future. If you notice that an item related to this trait is still too expensive compared to the other seasonals, please let us know!

The month of Love

Duration:  February 1st - March 1st, Realm: Any, with some focus on Gaianu 

February is often regarded as the month of love due to valentines- and this sentiment can be felt in many realms! In fact, it even transcend realms, creating lovers from different worlds...Which can lead to a whole lot of issues for the individuals and their potential children, depending on their home. Will your characters form such bonds?

Although Raquel will likely tell you it's a bad idea, this event is going to be all about love of any shape! We are happy to finally officially introduce the pairing mechanic to Realms Away, as well as having a small intro to crafting going along with it. And since we are talking lovers from different realms, this is a special reveal of two species within the same realm: angelus and demons!

Of good and evil

Your characters may find themselves stranded in Gaianu this month - a realm that seems uneventful at first, until you witness the long lasting struggle between "good" and "evil", the angelus and the demons, eden versus underworld. In the middle of it, the Lorian humans are trying their best to survive and lead a good life. It is suggested to read the information on Gaianu to get a better feel for the realm!

As per usual, you will be able to earn different items relating to these species during this event: the customary MYOs and traits! This time, the MYOs can be earned via event prompts! They will also be available for coin starting March. You can purchase traits for coin this month already at Freaque Antique and Fire & Steelworks!

Of course, there is also two new awards, "Lightbound" and "Darkbound" as well as new themes and backgrounds! The awards are limited to this event, but the background and theme will stay available for coins!

Pairing your characters

What many of you have been waiting for- you can now pair your characters, creating new MYO slots with chances to inherit traits and species/subtype from the parents! You may or may not use this for your canon plots. February will remain  a special time during which crossbreed pairing items can be obtained, but hybrids of the same species will be earnable all year.
