Main Realm
The world of Beastlings

About

The realm of Beastlings is a magical one, filled with ancient elemental powers. It is inhabited primarily by Beastlings, but you may also find some Stydians that have either invaded or left their homeland behind. Varelia is full of fantastical wildlife, both tall beasts and friendly companion sized critters. Their main areas and cities are also referred to as hubs, which you can read up more on below. Out of all Beastlings, Lopilu make up a majority of the population, having spread the furthest and calling nine hubs their home, whereas all other subtypes generally settle around one main hub but do spread out to live in other areas as well.

Tensions between the Beastlings, who favor magic, and the Stydians/Humans, who follow the advance of technology, often run high. Beastlings are capable of naturally generating magic, which is often misused by those who do not inherently have this power. Stydian military has been known to capture Beastlings, force them into ride form and then rid them of their respective magic sources - most commonly cutting down a a Lopilu's mane to trap them in their feral form to use it as labour, while keeping the magical mane for their creations and as a magical battery.

Due to this ongoing conflict, Beastlings often find themselves learning combat professions, and the founders of each hub have been working tirelessly to keep the Stydians from past the northern seas at bay.

If only that remained their only worry...

About

Of the three metropolises , Crystopia is the most wary of outsiders, yet tends to stay peaceful. They are high on security and low on crime, a polar opposite to nightglade, where chaos reigns for decades. However, not everything is perfect here - sometimes, it's just hidden by the veil of crystal.

Style and Fashion

Crystopians are bearers of light and often show off bright pastel colorations and styles. They have a weakness for pink and will wear it a lot. although other colors may occur, they tend to look softer than others. Their clothes tend to be modern, stylish, classy - sometimes bordering extravagant.

About

They are generally open to outsiders, mostly in order to use their knowledge for their own good, and because these Lopilu can themselves be on the dangerous side. Nightglade is the origin of many gangs and criminal associations - some less cruel, some more. Some with questionable goals, others with big wishes to improve the city.

Style and Fashion

These Lopilu show the least color variance of all, Usually restricted to greys, white and black. Sometimes a different color may shine through. Their clothing tends to be dark and edgy, and so is their affinity for magic. Like in the other metropolises, the clothing style is modern, yet a bit rugged and less glittery/shiny. They prefer cloth, leather and latex.

They like to use fabrics that have shine to them, or glitter, and often incorporate LEDs or magically glowing details. They also enjoy spikes. Redwood Lopilu tend to not live in one big city, instead, they live in clans spread out through their woods. Not as open as their Meadowing neighbors, but not as closed off as their Vinegrove peers. The Redwood clans are prideful and honorable for the most part, willing to entertain and help tourists, without sharing their deeper secrets and techniques to just anyone wandering by.

Style and Fashion

Here, reds and browns blend in well, so most of them fall into the mostly brown/reddish/orange color scheme. Their traditional clothing is rich in patterns and decorations and sometimes shows their love of the fire, bright and red. They like accessories such as flowers and intricate little figures. They use mostly cloth fabrics such as silk with other fabrics serving as more of a final touch.

About

Similar to those of the Redwood, these Lopilu live in smaller settlements spread out in the wild, and actually are fond of travelling as well. They generally have very good relationships with their red neighbours, and will often be found trading with them. Their affinity for plants is the strongest, and so is their desire to help others - a wayward traveller will almost certainly find help within a Meadowing village.

Style and Fashion

Meadowing born Lopilu range in color from all shades of green to brown, mimicking the look of a forest in spring or fall. Their clothes are self made and simple most of the time adorned with flowers or plants they found. They use furs and simple clothing made from cotton or plant fibre. Generally, they prefer to live the simple life.

About

Like the previous two, these Lopilu tend to form smaller groups and may travel. They are, however, often times less friendly - no wonder, as they find themselves in rough environments, and are often fighting between each other for dominance over other tribes. Not much is known to outsiders on their way of living, although more recently, embassadors from different tribes have ventured further into the world.

Style and Fashion

Vinegrove inhabitants blend well into their jungle surroundings, earthy tones with bright highlights as seen in jungle plants and flowers. Their clothes are self made as well, often using animal bones and hides or feathers to decorate them. Main materials used are cloth and leather. Some choose to forego clothing altogether. It mainly is not a priority here.

About

Seaport is an important trade hub and thus frequented by many travellers, Lopilu and Stydian alike. It is the most open of the three city hubs, and its inhabitants are generally the same - with one goal: profit. For merchants, there will be no better place than to settle down in seaport. They are also the owners of the biggest fleet of ships by far, taking care of securing the nearby waters and their fishers safety.

Style and Fashion
Living by the sea, they took on ocean hues, blues and sometimes greens -like Crystopians they enjoy their pastels. They love to dress accordingly, sometimes adorning their clothes with things they found in the water, such as seashells, nets or scales. They like clothes that don't mind getting wet, think swimsuits made of rubber like material, but also flowy soft summer dresses and translucent materials.

About

Antiquans are exceptionally proud of their age old city and lineage, and thus, will view anyone who insults it poorly. Their leader is a warlord of exceptional strength, whose rivalry with the head of seaport has gone on for ages. In Antiqua, festivals and fights that showcase strenght are often held in the various colliseums and arenas they built. Their ways tend to be old and traditional, so they may be more suspicious of outsiders than other Lopilu.

Style and Fashion

Earthen in tones and bearing earth magic, they began to incorporate armor and plate into their clothing. Gold, bronze and silver persists, alongside browns and creams. Their most common styles are either white or cream colored cloth draped around them, or armor made from the previously mentioned metals, held together by leather straps and details.

It is rumoured that they know spells to keep warm, as their way of dress heavily contradicts the cold, biting air of their chosen home high in the mountains. The inhabitants of Heaven's Arch worship the sun and the moon and have a big interest in astrology, the stars, and aviation.

Style and Fashion

Half Light in spirits and colors as air and ice, half dark but sparkling like the moon and stars, they choose to forego heavy cloth in favor of airy and see-through variants. This includes using fabrics like lace and silk. They also adore their gold and silver accessories. Heaven's Arch prefers the colors black, purple, white, blue and gold.

About

The ruined woods are a place that most avoid, even Beastlings - unless you happen to be a Vesperus. It serves as their main hub, and thus, can be dangerous for any outsider - especially if they are a neighboring Vulpel, as there have been feuds between the two for a while. Vesperus depend on blood to survive, and often times, their prey would be other Beastlings. Vesperus tend to live in smaller groups scattered all over the Ruined Woods, and not all of them necessarily work together. There is no central leadership.

No one really knows what event led to the separation of the forest into Ruind and Ancient woods - and how the corruption of half the area happened. Regardless, tensions near the border run high, and the closer one gets, the more likely one is to run into an enemy.

Style and Fashion

Vesperus of the Ruined Woods tend to stick to dark colors that blend in with their surroundings. Aside from black and grey tones, red tones are the most popular - likely because it is the color of blood, which symbolises life to them. Thy tend to like old fashioned victorian styles, things you would imagine vampires to wear - but can also take to the guise of a silent hunter, hoods, leather belts and all, as well as some Nightglade influenced style that is more revealing and edgy. Witchy vibes are also popular.

About

The Ancient woods are, as they are called, ancient. They make up the still lush and green part of the woods, which the tree-dwelling Vulpel call their home. Although they tend to live in bigger groups, building tree houses and helping each other out whenever they can, the most influential group here is the Fae Glade.

Style and Fashion

Vulpel of the Ancient Woods don't necessarly see any need for elaborate clothing, often sticking close to nature. They prefer light and practical garbs, incorporating wooden and glass parts (think mosaic/glass windows) where they can. They also often use flowers to finish off their look - or anything they find in the woods, honestly. Especially if it's shiny and pretty. A sub-genre of style is the Fae Glade's, which is usually made up of dark muted or pastel colors with plants and gems or glass bits, as well as metallic accessories. They often go for a knightly or royal image.

About

The crystal desert is, as the name suggests, known for being rich with gemstones and metals of all kinds. It is the territory of the Felespio, who are great at standing the head and digging deep into the sands, where they build some of their cities - right below the desert. While not all cities are below ground, you may also find some of their settlements with round little huts built from sandstone. The Felespio generally stick to themselves, but have recently ventured out more. They can sometimes be coaxed to trade gemstones for other utilities they find interesting.

Style and Fashion

There are two types of prevalent fashion for Felespio from the desert: The first is finely crafted armor that has a somewhat rugged look to it due to the sands, but otherwise keeps earthy tones of the respective metals it is made from. The second is outfits made from light but solid cloth in various colorful patterns and shapes, often decorated with beads. Gemstones as accessories will be found commonly in both of them.

About

Moondew has ever since been hidden to most, as the Lupicus inhabiting it did not feel like sharing their home with the world. It is located relatively close to Heaven's Arch, but even higher up still, and clad in thick fog that makes it difficult to see. Only those with permission to enter may enter. Moondew is a huge city that is actually split into two: a lower and an upper level, representing the two sides of the moon. Those with power and money generally reside in the fancier and safer upper levels, wherea the lower you go, the rougher life gets.

Style and Fashion

Due to being located close to each other, there is a lot of overlap between the preferred fashion of Moondew and Heaven's Arch, with some slight differences. Unlike Heaven's Arch, Moondew only worships the moon, so their outfits will be inspired by it often times. They like shiny metals and stones to forge into graceful, lithe armor, as well as fur lined clothing. As it is very cold and misty in moondew, ice and snow is another popular theme in clothing designs or details. Fragile, ice crystal like accessories are a growing trend.
