Life and Age

General Lore
How old do different species get?

Glitches and Crossbreeds

A crossbreed character with the genetics of two species will often find their lifespan prolonged or shortened depending on the secondary species. A character with a glitch will generally have the lifespan of their main species.

Exceptions

If your plot allows for it, you can always include other exceptions to this rule. Maybe your character has been messed up by reflection magic, trapping them in time. Maybe they used the powers of another species to remain young. The below ideas are just concerning natural lifespan and aging!

Lopilu
  • They can be up to 200 years old, sometimes even longer if their magic is exceptionally strong.
  • They are considered adults at ~20 years of age, and naturally look like young adults until they reach about 100 years of age.
  • They can remain youthful adults visually for all their life if they use their magic to halt the aging process, but this constantly drains them and may lead to an earlier death.
  • Enhanced Lopilu often pass on earlier due to the experiments they went through.
  • A lopilu whose mane has been cut dangerously short will also often not live as long, even if they recover.
  • The founders are a bit of a curiosity, since they are known to have been around for way longer than that somehow...who knows why?
Gleamstic
  • Regular Gleamstic have life spans similar to humans. Alien Gleamstic can live nearly forever, given the right circumstances. But naturally, they will live to be around 150 years old.
  • Regular Gleamstic age similar to humans but will remain a tad bit more youthful even in old age from their ancestors genetics.
  • Alien Gleamstic do not age past adulthood, they reach their final appearance around 30 years of age.
  • The aliens have also developed technology that allows them to prolong their lifespan.
  • Needless to say, this tech is not available to just every alien for no cost - although it is feasible to work towards getting the procedure done.
  • In theory, regular Gleamstic could also undergo the de-aging process.
Lovabuns
  • Lovabuns lifespans are about as long as a humans, although they commonly get older on average (~90).
  • They age like humans, and turn into adults at 18.
  • Currently, they have no way to change this lifespan, although some reflaction shenanigans may have such side effects (glitches affecting their age due to other species genetics, for example).
Equos
  • Similar to Lopilu, as magical beings, they grow to be around 200-250 years old if they do not lose their life by other means before that.
  • They grow into an adult at around 30 years of age.
  • Also similar to Lopilu, Equos generally do not age unless they choose to.
  • It depends on how strong their life force/magic is, but it is rather rare for one to live less than 140 years.
  • Equos Infernalis are an oddity and no one currently knows if they share the lifespan with the other subtypes.
Faun
  • As non magical beings, faun can naturally age past 100 years, but will not grow older than 140 years.
  • They grow into an adult at 18 years of age, like humans.
  • They will age visually, although not as noticably as humans, perhaps due to their lifestyle being rather healthy.
  • Undead Faun are not known to die naturally, but will return to the earth should someone break their "curse".
Dragon
  • Dragons are known to be an ancient species, and if they were not as heavily hunted, most would live to be centuries old.
  • Some dragons are known to have lived for even a millenia.
  • They reach adulthood at around 20 years of age regardless, as each passing year is a risk of being hunted down
  • Dragons do not age visually, as their most natural form is draconic, and their humanoid form is one they create for themselves.
  • They can choose to appear older and wiser if they feel the need to.
  • They will not choose to appear child like for NSFW reasons. (do not be weird guys).
Serpent
  • Serpents can live up to 160 years.
  • They are physically adults by around 20 years of age.
  • Due to being capable of shedding old skin, they do not visibly age - it is probably also why they can get much older than humans.
Beastling
  • Beastlings naturally have a slightly shorter life than most species, at around 85 years of age max.
  • They mature faster, needing only 10 years to enter adulthood in their feral form.
  • Once adults, their humanoid and anthro forms also take the form of an adult. It is in fact rare for them to ever go for anything younger, seeing as how unlikely it is that a beastling ever saw a humanoid child.
  • It is strictly prohibited to draw a beastling that has not yet reached adulthood in nsfw scenarios, regardless of how they physically look. (do not be weird guys).
Arma Caeli
  • It is unknown how old exactly Arma Caeli can get, but the most current guess is: as old as you let them.
  • Their ties to the reflection seem to have granted them an immunity to the passage of time.
Nimare
  • Nimare are similar to serpents! They can live up to 160 years.
  • They are physically adults by around 20 years of age.
  • They may sometimes shed parts of their skin, and generally it is believed the waters of Grand Lake keep them young, which also leads to some unfortunate tourism.
  • As such, nimare do not grow visibly old until very late in their life.
Demon/Angelus
  • They are similar to dragons and can be centuries old, especially when remaining in the underworld or eden.
  • As talented shape shifters and supernatural forces, their appearance is often of their choosing, and they do not have to visibly age.
  • They will not choose to appear child like for NSFW reasons. (do not be weird guys).
Saurian
  • Saurians are similar to serpents/nimare! They can live up to 160 years.
  • They are physically adults by around 20 years of age.
  • They may sometimes shed parts of their skin, which has turned rather sturdy due to heat and sand.
  • In turn, this means they age slower, as their is less brittle than a humans.
