Playful or Simple

As many of you know, Evecubes is selling all sorts of different site themes - now, they all got an update alongside the introduction of a new site design! Here's the most important info, short and sweet:

• All users (and visitors) have been adjusted to automatically use the new "playful" site design. It features some foreground artwork, giving the site a more 3D feel, as well as the Realms Away logo at the top.
• All themes were updated to include pieces for this new look!
• You can change back to the previous design by going to your settings > theme and picking "simple" for site design. You can change between them at any time!

Last but not least, Eve offers you a free Cube of Cubes for one time pickup. It'll let you pick any of the themes currently available on site! If you have trouble deciding, you can view previews of all themes in their playful glory here.

This change was one I wanted to do for a long while, because I love the feel of a more detailed site. By keeping the old version active as well, we can have the best of both worlds! Hope you like it, and thank you for reading o7

Realms Away turns 1 today

Today marks the day that our first ever event on this site started, all the way back in 2023. I cannot believe how fast time flies, but I am very happy to see the progress we made and all the people that have joined during this time. In order to celebrate, we have prepared a special anniversary daily for you! You can claim it until August 1st, so no need to be scared of missing out. Thank you for all the love and support, it's what keeps me going when working on content and code for this site <3 

Introducing bi-monthly events

As much joy as working on Realms Away has brought me, and despite the help by our trusty mini mods with approvals and submissions, I am sad to report that I feel a bit burnt out. One year of posting one event each month, most introducing new species, traits, companions, prompts, awards and sometimes mechanics has taken a toll on me. That's 12 events, and on top of that the 4 seasonal events as well, PLUS adopts on the side. It is getting a bit too much for me to handle, as I work on these things alone and do have a fulltime job. I find myself with less time for personal projects, but most importantly, less time to relax.

I have decided to take the month of artfight and the anniversary to make a change to this, in hopes of it allowing me more space to breathe and keep content fresh, without being hurried. This is how events will continue on:

• From september onwards, you can expect events to last two months instead of one.
• I will be taking a break month in august since I wish to participate in artfight and could use the extra time to clear my mind and finish the september/october event.
• In november/december, you can look forward to a long awaited new species reveal...
• I will try to put species that share realms together in events, so you don't need to wait 2492 years for new content/returning extraordinary traits
• Seasonal events remain unchanged and will keep coming every 3 months

I hope you can understand why these changes are necessary. I will always continue to do my best to keep the Realms Away experience fun and engaging, but I have to look out for myself as well.

It's Sun VS Moon

Duration:  July 1st - August 15th, Realm: Loova (but can be completed by any character!)

Solana of the Sunborn has found herself in a pinch...she has been tasked to finally deal with the troublesome Red Moon group. The Red Moon is a small but growing faction that is unhappy with the state of the current affairs between the Sunborn and Moonborn, believing the treaty to be injust. They are said to be violent and unreasonable, but claim they only want justice. All that Solana wants is to keep all citizens safe. Both sides are now looking towards adventurers outside of Loova for help. Whose side will you be on?

This is a team event! That means you will work together to gather apples and help out the group you have chosen to support. All apples you earn via prompt submissions automatically go towards the group you pick below, and will help them train more artefact companions. It also plays into the artfight month by making all your artfight attacks on Realms Away characters relevant to this event!

In order to earn apples for your team, you can complete three event prompts! One of which is just a "submit your RA artfight attacks" prompt. The winning team will decide the theme of the next upcoming raffle Lovabun...

Unlock the Alter transformation & new companions

The time to bond with your companions has finally come. For this, two new permanent prompts have been introduced! 

• You've got a friend in me - to earn one of the #9 starter companions
• An Exceptional Bond - to unlock the powerful Alter transformation (which will be expanded on further as RA progresses)

Additionally, a new companion hops across your way...For the duration of this event, you can purchase it for apples from Freaque Antique (but later, it will be available for coin like the others!).

Unveil a new Lovabun trait

We have been teasing it for a long time, but now you can finally also create your own horned Lovabuns! For the duration of this event only, Joyous Toys will sell you the Mythical Bunny Mask for apples!

These potions will change you permantently...

Hello, I am back with another smaller update that I know some people have been waiting for! An official way to change your character's species and/or subtype! But, how exactly does it work? The MYO design terms have been updated with a "Changing Species or Subtype" section, but here is the gist of it:

• Free human MYOs cannot be species or subtype changed!
• To change a character's species you will need a species modifier item, and  to change a subtype you will need a subtype modifier item. When attaching them to a design update request, they should allow you to edit the respective field. They can be bought from the Reflection's Crossroad.
• Once per user, you are granted a special free species modifier. It is also included in the shop above!
• The design of the changed character must reflect the new species and subtype as per the respective species guide.
• If it's not your own design, you are required to check the artist's TOS and respect their rules on edits before doing this.

What can you use these on? Any character or MYO, including Pairing or Glitch Slots (although, the crossbreed/glitch traits stay unaffected from this due to technical restraints). These items work similar to trait items in that when attached to a design update/approval request, they let you choose a new species and/or subtype. Easy!

Additional info for transparency: The pricing of the species change item is based on the most expensive MYO slot (500) - the least expensive MYO slot (250) = 250. This is to prevent potential abuse of the system by getting the cheapest MYO and then simply changing the species.

The Rifts get an update...

Ages ago, we made a poll asking you all if you'd like the idea of new players getting a free rift cluster to kickstart their journey on Realms Away. Overwhelmingly, you agreed that this would be a great idea. At the same time, with how popular new rift drops are, I felt it wouldn't be quite right to simply gift every new player a free rift cluster - since so far, everyone had to work for them by turning in a design of their own. The solution? Rift Particles!

Rift Particles are a new currency that exists alongside Rift Clusters . They work in the following way:

• Each player may claim one free rift particle per year from the Reflection's Crossroad
• Designs that have been floating in the rifts for 1 month+ will be changed to be purchasable via rift particle instead of rift cluster
• If a design gets redrawn/redesigned, this resets the timer and puts it back to rift cluster for one month

This way, we hope that new players still get an easier start with a premade design if they wish, while also keeping the value of rift clusters up since they get to claim designs for one month first. The Rifts guide has also been updated to reflect this addition~ We do have some designs up for particles too! (at the time of posting),
