A Very Special Bouquet | A Common Misunderstanding

Stellamaris scoffed as a bundle of flowers were shoved into his hands. He definitely didn't appreciate it when someone shoved something at him, even if the flowers were rather nice. He looked down at them, examining them and taking note of the colors and patterns of the bouquet. Blue Roses of some sort, a bundle of classic purple Irises, some Pink Dahlias, and some orchids. He looked towards the faun who had given it to him, tilting his head slightly, almost disgusted. What was this behavior? He was even more confused when the other hooved creature started speaking. "Congratulations! I wish nothing but the best lives for you and your child." 

Child!? Maris was quick to argue. "What are you on about!?" He growled, but it seemed that the faun was unphased. "Well, I assumed that nobody in your life might create a bouquet to celebrate your new stage of life as a parent, so I took it upon myself to make one for you!" That only seemed to confuse and aggravate the equos more. "This is ridiculous, and completely uncalled for!" His continued anger this time seemed to be enough to make the faun falter. "Oh, I apologize, are the flowers not good- I can see if I can find you some different ones for a proper bouquet." The male huffed, the rage still burning in him but not wanting to push that onto the poor individual who just wanted to give him something nice. "It is... not that. The flowers are nice. It's just..." he paused. "It's what?" 

Another pause, until eventually he spit it out. "I'm not a father- there's no way I would be a father. I hardly have anyone in my life, let alone a child." The creature reacted with shock, and then embarrassment. "Oh! I... must've mistaken you for someone else- I do apologize sir, I didn't intend to insult you in any way by giving you a bouquet made for parents... I can just take the bouquet back, It's no issue at all-" The smaller creature reached out to the bouquet, only for Stellamaris to pull it closer to him. "That... is not necessary. Like I said, the bouquet is nice. There will be no need for you to take it away. I will find some use for it, I'm sure." 

Stellamaris looked away, and though the color didn't appear on his face, his expression looked similar to someone who was blushing. Confusion and miscommunication aside, at least he got some pretty flowers out of it.
