On the Hunt | Serpent's Strike
The two orange and black serpents looked to each other for a moment, considering their task. It only took a moment of thought for them to have smirks on their faces. They leaned in close to one another, whispering among themselves. "Serpents are natural hunters, aren't they Cain?" Abel stated, lightly rubbing his claws against themselves. "Certainly so, Abel. but perhaps we shouldn't use all of our strength at once. We wouldn't want our hosts to be ashamed of themselves, beaten out by two people who have half the limbs that they do." Cain responded, then looking out and seeing a suitably sized creature for their show of strength. It was bigger than the both of them, suitably able to defend itself with a large pair of horns and claws on all of their limbs. It wasn't a creature either of them recognized, but it wasn't like it mattered now.
Cain turned to the Saurians monitoring them, lightly putting a hand to his chest with a smile. "For those witnessing, please do keep your eyes on the beast at all times. And, try not to blink, for you wouldn't want to miss anything." His confidence and showmanship definitely wasn't the most appealing behavior. If anything, it made the Saurians watching even more stubborn and confused on how such a creature can have such confidence with hunting, even if it was a duo.
Cain and Abel slithered in separate directions, curling around and placing themselves on either side of the beast. Their tails allowed them to glide across the sand with little noise, and with that same silence, they were able to use hand signals to communicate on either side of this particular clearing of sand.
Blink and you'll miss it was certainly an accurate term for Cain to use, even if the Saurians doubted it. In one second, the two were a small distance away from the beast, and in the next, the sounds of pained wailing echoed through the sky. The lizard-like beast was thrashing around as best it could, but to no avail, the two strong serpentine tails wrapping around its body wouldn't budge no matter how hard it tried to escape.
Quickly enough, those wails turned into wheezes, the beast having used all its lung strength to wail, unaware of the fact that each scream had allowed the serpents' tails to curl even tighter across it's torso. And then...
Snap. Crack. Crunch.
The beast was rendered silent as their bones and neck were snapped, While not a merciful death in the sense that it was terrified as it died, but a merciful one in the sense that the actual painful part was swift.
And the best part of it for the serpent brothers, their meal was entirely intact. No gashes from weapons, no bite marks or wounds that would allow the sand to contaminate the meat. An Incredibly sanitary corpse to be made into food and supplies, with as little waste as possible.
They dragged the beast back towards their little audience, and while some of them stubbornly looked away from them, others clapped their hands together lightly. While the method wasn't quite so familiar to them, it was certainly impressive in plenty of ways that they previously thought impossible.
Safe to say that Cain and Abel had done well enough to get the Saurians' favor. And perhaps it was good that this was considered them going easy on a target. After all, if they could take down a beast that size with just their tails, who knows what kind of beast they could kill if they were actually trying.
