Found Dragon Egg
“Ridley! Ridley!” Eisa called, rushing over towards the dragon who raised her. Ridley turned from his woodworking and raised an eyebrow at his ward.
“What is it?” Ridley questioned, his voice a deep rumble.
“Y...You’ll never guess what I found.” Eisa panted, leaning over to catch her breath. Ridley cocked his head to the side, his long two toned blue hair falling over his shoulder with the motion as he assessed Eisa.
“...show me.” Ridley sighed, knowing that she’d rather show him what she’d found than tell him.
Eisa straightened up and as soon as Ridley walked towards her, she began leading him back the way she’d came. They walked the familiar path in the woods that they used to walk together when she was a little girl.
“Here it is.” Eisa said, nodding towards a small outcropping of rocks. Ridley raised an eyebrow, looking down at his companion then he followed her a couple of steps forward then knelt down when she did, blue-violet eyes widening slightly at what he saw.
“I didn’t find a mother or father anywhere nearby and I walked around a ways to see if they were around but I didn’t see anyone. I figured it’s probably abandoned.” Eisa said.
“It’s what it looks like.” Ridley confirmed.
“So...what do we do?” Eisa questioned.
“Since it looks like its parents aren’t around...we care for it.” Ridley said. A smile crossed Eisa’s face at his words and she couldn’t help but let out a quiet chuckle, drawing Ridley’s attention to her.
“Time for the both of us to take care of the egg like you cared for me.” Eisa grinned.
A deep chuckle escaped Ridley and he grinned, remembering how he’d found her wandering as a child and decided to take her in and raise her since her clothes were torn from her wandering and the fact that she was all alone.
“Exactly. But now I have an extra set of hands to help me with the care.” Ridley replied.
“Do...we leave it here? Or do we move the nest to our location to make it easier?” Eisa questioned.
“We move it.” Ridley said.
Eisa nodded her head then stood up as Ridley carefully picked up the egg so she gathered up the nest as best as she could then followed Ridley back to their home. Once home, Ridley waited as Eisa carefully set the nest down in the mouth of the cave where she and Ridley grew certain foods then Ridley stepped forward and gently placed the egg back in the nest and watched as Eisa brought more grass and some hay and placed it on the nest.
“There we go.” Eisa hummed, straightening up with her hands on her hips.
“And now we wait for the day it hatches.” Ridley said.
