My Realm, My Home (Tokuko's speech)
"Hello, welcome. Please come on in. Yes, I got your mail. Sorry for this inconvenient location. I lived deep inside the alley that kept me away from the city. I should better be careful than regret it later. You're kind of brave, though, to have come this far to this city. Pardon me, are you a human, too? Oh, great. Some of us don't have guts, so it's pretty rare for another human to show up. Please hang in a minute, I'll brew some tea."
"Well, you guessed it right, I arrived at Candoris first after leaving my old world. But I fell into Maal; the environment there made me sick. The people there were nice, but I can't live there. So, I packed up some supplies and went. After several days, I ended up in Noxving. Life was hard for me at first because this city is so busy. People here don't open much for mistakes as they are very militaristic, and you can see it; they're not really friendly. Or am I just not lucky enough to meet some? In summary, this city is serious about you and is telling you to be serious back. If you break this rule, you'll be kicked out. They don't have time to feel empathy for you."
"You want me to tell you more details about this city? I don't know; I haven't explored it much. The first day, I wandered down the street and saw a watch store. It looks steampunk, but I know I don't have money or anything to step inside like a customer, so I watched the store through the glass. Maybe I get weird for standing at the same place for a long time, but in 30 minutes, I see a brand new scene. People there always work seriously without showing tiresomeness. The walking Gleamstics on the street were also silent, serious, and focused on themselves. At first, I thought Noxving was a hostile city, but I was wrong. They're just strict."
"I made this place my home because I can train myself in such a harsh environment. And in fact, I did. The failures teach me much more than the successes. I can't say I love Noxving, but it's my home."
" . . . . . "
"Alright, interviewer, no, stranger. How many of us have you come across? Please be honest, because even though my power is gone in this world, I can still crush you to pieces. Now, how about it? Can you be honest about your life, please? Well, I can say you're quite unlucky for coming to Tsukino and Kiriko instead of me. And this should be the last time you ever dare dig up our past. Um...? Sure, I'll still let you go. I don't want trouble from the people in LUMEN. But I'll chop off three of your left-hand fingers as a warning. Please take that seriously."
"Hmm? What happened to me, you ask? So that means you don't understand this place at all. It was called Noxving—the name of militarism! You may have forgotten that I used to be in the army, and that's how my skills helped me survive. This is the city of realism, not a place for some daydreaming guys like you to think that you can fool us and dig up information that pays you lots of cash. The species that dominates this place is the Gleamstic, they are serious and won't take a silly joke like you. Not all of them like humans, and mercy doesn't seem like their favorite choice at all. Remember, the citizens here are very realistic. They'll immediately extinguish any life that doesn't bring earnings to their city. Earnings here aren't always monetary, perhaps power, such as elemental, plays a role. We humans can't produce such things, and even if we choose to work normally, we'll be much weaker and less effective than the aliens. Understand? That's the lesson I learned from living here. And you, I'm sorry for repeating this again, are like a piece of trash in this militaristic city. All I see in you are the dreamy, useless thoughts that were called "freedom-in-thought" in LUMEN. Sorry, you can keep it, but it won't save you in Noxving. Now, stop screaming, you're annoying the neighbors."
"Now, do you know which situation you're in? Stop crying, you have two more fingers to go. I am the Noxvian now. I distorted myself to make this place my home. Do you know? People here even view other Candorians as weaklings. They look down on them, and the Candorians look down on humans. I live in that environment. I live amongst the combative Noxvians, who may blow up a war sooner or later. Years have turned me into this cold blood, and here you go with your second finger. Clench your teeth."
