A Good Plan

The Grand Lake was busy that day, voices left no space unattended as friends and partners and more went on with their plans. Even so, some voices stood out.

"Aighty, Deeno this way! We're almost there buddy."

It was excitable, friendly, someone you would want to be friends with... Even if the figure was tall with a sharp tail.

"Okay but are you sure your sure? You haven't told me WHERE we're going Kaiya..."

Deeno responded in kind, much smaller than Kaiya by first glance that was further exageratted by his timid stance. Trying to be smaller as he hid behind the other while careful of the tail.

"Well duh, it would ruin the surprise."

Kaiya rolled her eyes good naturedly.

"It'll be fiiiine, I promise. You trust me, right Deeno?"

The saurian exhaled. "Yeah... You didn't kill me despite multiple chances or eat me yet so... It probably helps I work with you and help cover rent huh...?"

"And the good food and clean living area." She added with a wink.

Then she was facing the front again, tail tip gently guiding Deeno if he lagged behind too far. He had to hold his own so nobody would get impaled on the spikes, So, Deeno fidgeted with the tip, messing with the wooden beads that reminded him of family. Kaiya had decided they would take their lunch break together and that she would take him out to see something "like, up your alley dude. You will not believe-" that had Deeno just nodding as he had learned there were some things you just went along with when living with a excitable nimare. Specifically Kaiya. Or maybe he was biased...

But what if... What if something went wrong? Or the place was closed and they embarresed themselves, or worse his old tribe was somehow there and-

Before Deeno could drive himself into a tizzy, Kaiya's voice brings him back.

"We're here! Are you ready for the best thing ever?" She waited until he nodded after some hesitation before allowing him to see the sign. Stepping aside.

It took a while for him to read, as the other languages here were not like the one he learned. Kaiya helped and he picked up some in passing, but he still took a moment to parse the words.

"The... Purring Teamouse?"

"Teahouse, BUT yeah! This is it! Ever heard of a cat cafe?"

Deeno shook his head slowly. "N..Nnnooo?"

"Hell yeah, that's sad but you're gonna love this so much."

Her hands were on his bony shoulders, pushing him inwards with a tiny bell alerting staff of their arrival. Once they were escorted to the back where a table would be Deeno's eyes widened and a shocked gasp formed into a joyful smile.

While there were staff that wern't felis, who seemed just as excited to be here as Deeno, what really got the saurian's attention was the smaller staff. Gitties, Kittens, (not Felis) Cats... While they were seated Deeno was smitten by a cat tree near his chosen spot. In a corner booth was a cat tree that held a sleeping gitty within. Deeno only looked away to oder himself a lychee and green apple drink while Kaiya ordered her own, grinning ear to ear at her victory.

"Soooo?"

Deeno looked to Kaiya, eyes pleading. "Do you think the landlord will let us have another pet in the house?" Kaiya shrugged, "Does he gotta know?"

Deeno blinked. "Does he... Not know about...?"

Kaiya winked and Deeno lost it, letting out a rare laugh and smile that made his friend puff up more. Pride obvious.

It did wake the baby gitty so Deeno ended up getting himself a muffin and a treat for the poor dear.

'Yeeeaaaahhh that one is coming home.' Kaiya noted mentally, snorting as Deeno tried to explain to the gitty why it cannot eat his muffin only the treats.

'Good luck with that one, lil buddy."
