As the fellow owner of a multispecies world I've been running for years, you have all my sympathies. This shit is hard! Fun and rewarding, for sure, but also hard as fuck! If it helps at all, here's my thoughts:
Feeling alone: The fact of the matter, with nearly every single species world, is that no one will care about your project more than you. You're the origin of the project, and your community feeds off your passion. If you look specifically for writing or event mods, you might get some bites. It's worth a shot! Like, if I didn't have my hands full with my little guys, I would have been interested. There's lots of fun seeds of lore here! Personally, I find a lot of community hanging out with other CS owners, on top of the couple of solid PAs I have. So that could help!
Too Much: Personally, one of the things i REALLY like about RA is that it has so many species. It's really easy for me to port over characters I already love and develop them in your world. There arent many places i can do that! That is very much a feature for me. That said, when i first joined, I never really expected every species to get an equal level of love, particularly the generics! it makes sense to have given them a flashy launch, but i didnt think all the species were gonna all get special events equally forever. it might help you to pick one species to be your flagship species (existing or new), and formulate a singular plotline around them? and then if users wanna throw in their little guys from the other species, they can. and if you feel inspired to give one of the other species a cameo or lore feature in said plotline, that's still an option to you. RA has a whole interdimensional world, so there's lots of leeway.
all that said, i DEFINITELY think that you should stop if its not fun for you! like, take care fo yourself, the point of hobbies is that theyre fun. do what makes you happy. i just hope these thoughts helped!
if you wanna talk more at all, feel free to dm me, i was way too intimidated to dm you myself :'3
Thank you Celest! It really is a struggle (insert handshake emoji here). I have been the main drive of anything I do for 7 years and I generally do ok with it but it's been a struggle recently :C I thought I love the idea of the generic species but it might not be it for me after all. Ideas/alternatives are cooking though! And I am mostly looking at ways that still make the generic species chars usable, but without guarantee that there can still be made more....Well, its all really rough ideas for now and I intend to try them in full locally before having people look at it and coming to a decision on how to move on!
