Snake Bites | Guardian Fights

Midgardsormr had attempted to talk to Stellamaris more than simple pleasantries and a vague threat to not cause trouble and go any further than his glade, but Stellamaris looked very distracted for a moment, having fallen through the rift and desperately searching in the grass for something. "I... have you heard me, horse?" The serpent growled, watching the equos look around before eventually grabbing onto something solid and bringing it close to him. The guardian tilted his head lightly as he looked at the item, realizing that it was... an egg. Not a serpent egg, of course not, but something harder, more sturdy... a dragon egg, it seemed. He had seem them, but rarely, and much less in the possession of a Equos. Immediately, his protective senses went off, eyes squinting and body shifting ominously.

"Adventurer, what is the meaning of this egg that you carry with you? Have you stolen from the dragons and intend to steal from us as well?" He growled, and Stellamaris went on the defensive at once. "Oh, my good sir you're misunderstanding! This is my child! Well, admittedly, it does look rather odd for an Equos to be carrying around a dragon egg, but I can assure you that my intentions are nothing but pure!" Another growl, followed by Midgardsormr's hand reaching out to the egg in the smaller male's grasp. "Is that so? Then how would you feel if I had a look at the unhatched one?"

Stellamaris wasn't a violent individual, he didn't even like physical activity much, but he wasn't going to let this creature attempt to grab at his egg. He reached into his pocket, pulling out his smoking pipe. It wasn't sharp, but it had enough of a pointed end that his next move at least did something. Midgardsormr flinched back when he felt the sharp pain on his hand, looking down to see that the posh little hooved beast had stabbed at his hand with a smoking pipe. He could only process it for a moment before Stellamaris ran off, not thinking of anything else outside of getting as far away from Midgardsormr as possible.

The serpent didn't move, only watching as the male ran off as fast as he could, his scales shimmering in the light much like another serpent would. He waved his injured hand around for a moment, shaking off the pain that was now nothing more than a small sting. Clearly, he was serious about taking care of the egg like a father would, strength and courage behind his actions included.

Midgardsormr knew that he would see the other again, either running around the glade or attempting to scramble back through the rift. The next time they met, he would not be quite as aggressive. He still didn't trust the adventurer just yet, but Stellamaris admittedly had a good start simply by the merit of also being a protector of something unable to protect itself properly.

Would he trust him with a serpent egg? Certainly not, at least not yet...
